Vimicro, Bird Team Up for 3G Mobile Phones

According to a report by Xinhua News Agency, Chinese chipmaker Vimicro and Bird have planned to jointly develop 3G mobile phones. Under the plan, Vimicro will be in charge of chip R&D with Ningbo-based Bird in charge of handset R&D. The Chinese Ministry of Information Industry will support the cooperation between the companies with an investment of several million RMB.
